purification

You're talking about 'assaissement' of the atomosphere here - the air - but the raw materials undergo it too? You have to find something that will work for all states of matter? I suggest purification. Perhaps there is some sort of filter? I can see a case for sanitizing too, if we knew how they were sanitizing it physically - some sort of antibacterial HEPA filter type thing would certainly sanitize air, but for solid raw materials, I don't know.
Purifcation is a bit safer if you have no idea what the process actually involves and can't find out.
Hope that helps.

I think that as well as the nitrogen blanket there is a separate thing happening - some sort of extra filtration step is all I can think of, or an air purge of some sort. Most of these words people have suggested might be right, but without knowing exactly what they are referring too it's all stabs in the dark. Maybe it coudl even be something like the filters we put on our taps - active charcoal type thing.
Note from asker:
Hello Karen, this was what I thought too, but do you think you'd need to filter nitrogen?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks Karen - I think all the ideas would have worked but I went with "with purification" hoping that would cover all possibilities, because it was really not clear what was being "assaini" or how. My understanding was like TechLawDC's, that it referred to filtration of the atmosphere inside the reactor and later in the packing room. "

'Assainissement' isused in differnet context as you've obviously realized; i think here it could be 'drainage'

French term (edited): sous assainissement

under clean conditions

This appears to be a clean-room-type situation.
Thus the assainissement concerns maintaining the operative environment (air and surfaces) free of dust which might cause contamination (physical, chemical, bacterial, etc. -- insufficient context).
Peer comment(s):

agree Bashiqa : Originally put off with "the man hole" indicating something very large, the fact that they are "wrapping" the product would indicate "clean conditions"

Yes. If the methylene blue is for pharmaceutical use, a large batch might be produced and packaged at one time, yet clean conditions might be prescribed by USFDA rule. (Insufficient space for a full response.)
