recessed/ sunken in the Y-direction ?

vis à vis the previous question in which X and Y axes are mentioned, I take "rentré" to mean recessed or re-entrant. But it is rather obscure; and what is an hors-tout...?

Thank you, Chris. Hors-tout, I would say overall (width) in this case. Y would be Y axis as there is a drawing for the text, but I do have headache for the use of "rentré"...
