Presumably a traditional celebration in Côte d'Ivoire.

I have no way of finding out whether this is a "coming-of-age ceremony" (like, for example, confirmation in the Catholic faith) or some kind of hommage to the older generations.
And no way of putting it into elegant English anyway...

Please help! Thanks in adavance.

Too late now Too late now, I have sent the text, but I least I added part of the relevant extra information. Seems interesting, alright, but I had a problem navigating the PDF file in the link you sent, my computer is getting old I think, and doesn't seem to like PDF files!

Conor, this festival of generations is actually more than simply a rite of passage from childhood to adulthood as it also entails adults passing into different classes of age - see the paper I gave the reference for. Quite an interesting custom

Agree-meant to add that to my peer comment. It's is a traditional celebration and I agree it's best left in French.

Leave in French I'm tempted to leave this in French, not only because there seems to be no neat English equivalent (and in any case the French would be relatively "transparent" for the intended audience), but also because the term is culture-specific (Côte d'Ivoire). And involves a culture that I have little knowledge of, unfortunately...
