français term

signe l'excellence

français vers anglais Affaires / Finance Publicité / relations publiques
what's the best translation? it refers to a service offered by a company for an advertisement...

'product' signe l'excellence (Company name)... and then goes on to list all the great things it does.

i'm guessing: "bears the quality of..."
but I'm going to give it a more informal, ad-like sound. I just need the proper sense of 'SIGNER' in that context.

the hallmark of excellence

the hallmark of excellence

signer - in meaning no. 2 - Tech., to hallmark < The Oxford Hachette French Dictionary E< >F, Oxford University Press & Hachette Livre

or for a more informal, marketing mass-appeal type rendering -

quality is written all over x / x has [top/unsurpassed/unrivalled/unique] quality written all over it

signé - c'est signé - it's written all over it, it's clear to see who's behind that, it's easy to guess who did that < Harrap's Slang French E< >Fr, Harrap's Books Ltd., London

agree sueaberwoman : Was thinking along the same lines as Emma. Possibly: product X bears ( as asker suggests) company Z's stamp of excellence.

Thanks, sueaberwoman
neutral polyglot45 : here it means more like "subscribes to excellence" for it is a verb NOT a noun (sinon cela aurait été "signe D'excellence"

Meant as a continuation of "...bears the quality of..." replacing "the quality of..." in the asker's phrase, but could have made it more clear.

means excellence

In an ad context, this is what I would use (ie signifies, though I don't think that would be used in a slogan-type way). Some examples:

WME Means Excellence
How does owning your own business, being your own boss, making the strategic decisions, setting your own schedule, being responsible. sound to you?
Do you have a financial and professional dream that you need to make happen?

LEISURE TRUST MEANS EXCELLENCE
Setting up a Leisure Trust for the city will ensure future investment and excellent facilities and service at GL1 and Oxstalls Tennis Centre.
That’s the view of Councillor Martyn White, cabinet member for heritage and leisure, following the decision by the council’s cabinet to go ahead with the proposals.
It will mean that the two flagship venues will be run by an independent board, selected from the local community, with funding provided by the city council.
The move to a Trust will provide annual savings of around £330,000 - with some £200,000 being reinvested in the Trust and the two centres.
Explained Councillor White: “We have two superb facilities and this move will help ensure that service and development at both will in the future be excellent. Residents and users will have a direct influence in the operation of the centres with faster decision making.
