Good evening,
I'm translating a text on climat changes from French to Dutch, and I'm having some problems finding the right translation for the term 'gélisol'. I already found the translation for 'pergélisol' ('permafrost', both in English as in Dutch) on this forum, but 'gélisol' isn't completely the same.
Here's the context in which it appears:
"On peut affirmer avec un degré de confiance élevé que les changements intervenus dans le manteau neigeux, les glaces et le gélisol se sont traduits par une multiplication et une extension des lacs glaciaires, une instabilité accrue des sols dans les régions montagneuses et d’autres zones à pergélisol et des modifications de certains écosystèmes en Arctique et en Antarctique."

"Die gevolgen uiten zich in de verstoringen van sneeuw, ijs en bevroren bodems (m.i.v. permafrost), zoals bijvoorbeeld..." (found on http://www.klimaat.be/IMG/pdf/IPCC_AR4_WG_II_NL.pdf, which is a report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change or IPCC). Just so you know :)
