It could be either/or the cost or production and/or distribution and/or the actual cost of consumption. I feel that is the reason \"economics\" was used as a catch-all, if you will, instead of specifying the expenses or production per se.

disagree humbird : Difficulty of fuel cell is technology to make it commercially feasible. So when you talk about distributuion, etc., you are talking way too ahead. This tech. is still in experiemental stage.

You could very well be right, Susan; however, for those of us who do not know as much as you do about the current stage of fuel cell technology, linguistically "economics" includes "distribution", etc. Thus, hypothetically, at least, it makes sense.

agree Ramesh Madhavan : Disagree with Susan. May be we can modify answer by saying "Economic feasibility...". All factors mentioned by Michael are important for placing a product in the market. At the end of it all, the buyer should afford to pay and the seller must make profit.
