Italian term

siculamente buonissime

Italian to English Other Marketing Sito web
In un sito di un'azienda siciliana riferendosi a un preparato di melanzane grigliate, utilizzano lo slogan: "Siculamente buonissime". Come posso fare a rendere un gioco di parole simile in inglese? Grazie.
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Tom in London

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Delicious Sicilian Delicatessen da aggiustare ?
philgoddard May 22, 2023:
It's slices marinated in olive oil.
JudyC May 22, 2023:
"Sicilianly" awkward, but at least a word that makes sense in the context
Janice Giffin May 22, 2023:
siculamente buonissime I happen to be in Palermo today and the word 'siculamente' appears on many shop windows (https://www.siculamente.it/). But if this product is to be marketed to an English-speaking segment, 'siciling' doesn't really make sense on a label. Are they pickled eggplant slices or a sort of relish? Phil Goddard has a better suggestion. Describe the product.
philgoddard May 22, 2023:
I think I'd forget trying to reproduce the pun and choose something that describes the product. Something like "Sicilian sunshine in a jar", perhaps.
Fiona Grace Peterson May 21, 2023:
Aha! Oh wow, didn't know. Now I do!
Emmanuella May 21, 2023:
It's a pun :
Siculo means from Sicily > Siculamente > Sicuramente ( really)
Fiona Grace Peterson May 21, 2023:
I don't understand the use of the "l" Should it be "sicuramente"?

Manciàri! - Scrumptious Sicilian Eggplant (slices? relish?)

Manciàri is simply the Sicilian verb ' to eat' followed by the product description which I think should be short and punchy.
Example sentence:

“ata manciari picchì ata crisciri!” which means “you have to eat if you wanna grow!”

Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : People won't understand this unless they speak Italian.

An English speaker doesn't understand the exact meaning of 'lancia' but they certainly recognize the product.

Siciling Yummy/Delicious

It's just an idea.

Obliviously, Siciling stems from Sicily, hence, offers a clear reference to the island and its cultural heritage.

However, Siciling is also almost pronounced like 'sizzling' and this term can offer an appealing idea of the grilled eggplants (aubergines) the company produces.

Below is an extract of its definition:

Adj. 1. sizzling - hot enough to burn with or as if with a hissing sound; "a sizzling steak";
to make the hissing sound characteristic of frying fat.
"a sizzling spell of weather"
hot - used of physical heat; having a high or higher than desirable temperature or giving off heat or feeling or causing a sensation of heat or burning; "hot stove"; "hot water"; "a hot August day"; "a hot stuffy room"; "she's hot and tired"; "a hot forehead"
2. sizzling - characterized by intense emotion or interest or excitement; "a red-hot speech"; "sizzling political issues"
red-hot
hot - extended meanings; especially of psychological heat; marked by intensity or vehemence especially of passion or enthusiasm; "a hot temper"; "a hot topic"; "a hot new book"; "a hot love affair"; "a hot argument"

.../interest. Also, in my opinion sizzling is an adjective that fits really well in the Sicilian context. Their weather is sizzling, their temper is sizzling, the way the love is sizzling, the way they speak is sizzling and they way they cook is also sizzling.
The product itself we don't know exactly how it's made, but when you think of olive oil, you need not to forget that olive oil in Italy and also in Sicily is widely used for stir frying too.

When you say 'Siciling' brings to mind sissy, you realize that, as a consequence, you are also saying that Sicily brings to mind sissy??

Talking about phonemes and assonance: if you say 'Siciling' brings to mind sissy, then also Sicily brings to mind sissy, doesn't it?
Note from asker:
I like it very much! Thanks for the suggestion.

neutral philgoddard : I don't think this works very well because the reader doesn't know the product is from Sicily. They'll just wonder what 'siciling' means. Also, the eggplants don't sizzle - they're in olive oil. http://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3822108554529693/

Hi Phil, thank you for your observations. First, I understand that readers/potential customers will find the description of the product in the company's own website. So they'll be aware of the context. I think that Siciling might spur their curiosity/inte
