Unless they're doing a check through back translation, it's odd that someone would ask you for AR>EN translation of something that was originally written in English and is easily findable in English...

Thanks, Mona. This is the expression I am familiar with. The story narrated in the question is reported in many sources. I found it in the New York Times (US) and in the Guardian (UK, linked above), using the same expression. I figured it must be right.
