English term

with limited resources, and unforgiving stake-holders?

English to Spanish Bus/Financial Management project manager (general info)
Now the question is, do you really want to be a project manager? Do you like having responsibility with very limited authority? Do you enjoy working to impossible deadlines, with limited resources, and unforgiving stake-holders? Are you, in other words, a bit masochistic? If you are, then you will love being a project manager.

Hello Christopher:

I read your question and context. In this case, I prefer to follow an easy way for the translation.

The expression “with limited resources” is clear. Its translation to Spanish: “con limitados recursos”.

In the case of “unforgiving stake-holders”, this is my analysis:

1) The English noun “stake-holders” has different translations but in the business environment, in special linked with Wall Street, the “stake-holders” are the investors or who are the owners of the main shares of the companies or the majority of the public stocks in the cases of the companies that deal its shares in Nasdaq, NYSE, AMEX or the markets of Frankfurt, London, Hong-Kong, Paris... .

This is the explanation of stake-holders of the The FreeDictionary by Farlex:
"stakeholder [ˈsteɪkˌhəʊldə]
n
1. (Economics, Accounting & Finance / Banking & Finance) a person or group owning a significant percentage of a company's shares
2. (Business / Industrial Relations & HR Terms) a person or group not owning shares in an enterprise but affected by or having an interest in its operations, such as the employees, customers, local community, etc."

Possible translations to Spanish: “accionistas”, inversores”, “dueños del paquete accionario”, “participantes de la compañía”, “partes interesadas”…., more.

2) The English adjective “unforgiving” that qualify “stake-holders” is normally translated to Spanish as: “implacable, implacables”. In our case is plural: “implacables” due to “stake’holders” is a plural noun.

If we put together the two main part of the English phrase to translate, this is my suggestion: “con limitados recursos y los implacables accionistas/inversores”

Alternative translation: “con limitados recursos y la presión de los implacables accionistas/inversores/dueños…” (FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, THIS IS BETTER TRANSLATION DESPITE IT IS NOT A TEXTUAL TRANSLATION)

I hope this analysis helps you in your work.

Regards

Domingo

...con recursos limitados y en un entorno de trabajo implacable/inflexible?

Yo hablaría más bien de "entorno de trabajo" en lugar de "partes interesadas" o "grupos de interés", que no me suena muy bien en este contexto...
Saludos!
