Spanish term

avisan a la guardia

Spanish to English Science Medical: Health Care Discharge report
Hi again everyone... I've almost finished the translation. One of the last sentences says "Los familiares del paciente avisaron a la guardia al producirse un episodio de sangrado de la herida quirúrgica".

Did they warn the doctors on duty? Or is there a more specific way of saying it? TIA.

notified/warned the doctors on duty

'Notify' is used in the following source but I don't think there is anything wrong in using 'warned' either.
Example sentence:

There are a variety of ways that a nurse can harm a patient -- from administering the wrong drug to failing to notify a doctor when something is really wrong.

Thanks Eileen
agree Neil Ashby : I'd definitely put "notified". To warn is to give advice / information about a possible FUTURE occurence. It doesn't apply here as the patient is already bleeding!!!
