piggin

English to Spanish Social Sciences Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.) woodenware for domestic use
this word appears in the novel"the house behind the cedars" by Charles W. Chesnutt, chapter XXXIII, "a mule and a cart". i know what it refers to because i ve seen pictures, but i just can't find the name in spanish.. the whole chapter can be read at

El "piggin" se usaba antiguamente para medir en seco los mariscos durante la venta. Normalmente se construían de roble.
No te he cambiado el nombre ya que no he encontrado sinónimos en español. Sugiero tentativamente que lo adoptes si el contexto lo permite.
De otra manera puedes crear "Recipiente para medir mariscos", algo largo me temo.
